PeopleScout Honored as 2017 Corporate Champion for the Unemployed by Skills for Chicagoland’s Future

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- PeopleScout, a TrueBlue company, is the 2017 Corporate Champion for the Unemployed, an award from Skills for Chicagoland’s Future (Skills) that honors PeopleScout’s commitment to increasing economic mobility for the unemployed and underemployed in the Chicago area.

The award is given to an employer partner that exemplifies the non-profit’s mission by hiring the unemployed, providing pro bono and financial support, and serving as a corporate advocate. This is the third year that Skills has recognized a Corporate Champion for the Unemployed. Previous award winners were JPMorgan Chase and CDW.

“PeopleScout is committed to connecting people and work, and we’re pleased to accept this award that honors our partnership and commitment to Skills for Chicagoland’s Future,” said Patrick Beharelle, TrueBlue president and COO and a member of Skills for Chicagoland’s Board of Directors. “We’re proud that many of the people we’ve hired through our partnership with Skills are still with us today, flourishing and adding value to our organization.”

Skills works to match businesses that have current, unmet hiring needs with qualified, unemployed and underemployed job seekers in Cook County. Since partnering with Skills in 2013, PeopleScout has hired 465 people and contributed financial support to help Skills expand its impact locally and place more people in jobs.

“Congratulations to PeopleScout on this award,” said Marie Trzupek Lynch, president and CEO of Skills for Chicagoland’s Future. “PeopleScout’s commitment to innovatively expand its long-term partnership to add new opportunities for candidates, such as job shadowing, training and professional development, makes them an ideal employer partner to celebrate and recognize. PeopleScout creates a great environment for unemployed and underemployed job seekers to thrive.”

“At PeopleScout, we believe that an investment in our community is an investment in ourselves,” said PeopleScout President Taryn Owen. “That is why we are honored to work alongside Skills for Chicagoland’s Future in its mission to empower unemployed and underemployed individuals with meaningful career opportunities. Each candidate we hire through our partnership with Skills not only adds value to PeopleScout, but also helps strengthen Chicago’s many communities.”

Since Skills for Chicagoland’s Future launched in September 2012, it has facilitated the hiring of more than 3,000 unemployed and underemployed job seekers by its employer partners. The program has increased economic mobility for Chicagoland residents and connected local businesses with great talent.
